UK Socialite Ghislaine Maxwell Jailed For 20 Years Over Sex Trafficking

New York:

Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a New York judge Tuesday for helping the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse girls.

The term, handed down in the Manhattan federal court, means the 60-year-old former socialite will spend much of the rest of her life in jail.

The Oxford-educated daughter of the late British press baron Robert Maxwell was convicted late last year on five of six counts, the most serious for sex trafficking minors.

Her lawyers had argued for leniency, citing a traumatic childhood and claiming that Maxwell was being unfairly punished because Epstein escaped trial.

Udaipur Tailor Murder A Terror Attack; Mourning Wife Explains His Last Days

Udaipur Murder: The tailor's murder has sparked tension in Rajasthan.

Udaipur, Rajasthan:

The Udaipur tailor who was killed in the most horrific way possible had returned to his shop after days of absence, his wife told NDTV today before his funeral procession left their home.

Kanhaiya Lal had skipped work for several days after he received death threats over his social media posts, his wife, Jashoda, explained to NDTV. Yesterday, he decided to attend to business again. He had been at work for a few hours when two men arrived, posing as customers.

Kanhaiya Lal, age 48, began measuring one of them; suddenly, he was attacked with a giant cleaver. The other man filmed the murder in gory detail. Then, both left the shop on a motorcycle, their faces covered to conceal their identity.

Gos Mohammad and Riyaz Akhtari, the two men seen in the grotesque video, were arrested last night. The Home Ministry has assigned the National Investigation Agency or NIA, which handles terror investigations, to the matter.

The accused men released two videos on social media - the first of Kanhaiya Lal's killing; the second, a confession that gloated about the murder, describing it as a beheading, and threatened that they would target the Prime Minister.

The police is maintaining a heavy presence in Udaipur, where curfew has been introduced in several parts of the city.

Kanhaiya Lal, about three weeks ago, had posted remarks in support of Nupur Sharma, who was a BJP spokesperson when she made offensive remarks about Prophet Mohammad in a televised debate. The comments triggered wide protests in India and condemnation from Gulf countries. The government sought to reassure them that the comments were of an individual and that India respects all religions.

CUET 2022: 9 reasons why you should take a mock test for common university entrance test

The Common University Entrance Test, CUET, aims to create a common platform for anyone interested in enrolling in undergraduate programs at Central Universities across the country. If they use CUET, candidates applying to Central Universities for UG programmes will just have to take one exam. Because this is an all-India exam with a high level of competition, candidates must have a defined purpose and direction in order to succeed.

The examinee would benefit from strategic planning and preparation. The new education policy proposed by the center includes an entrance test for central universities for further study.

The CUET is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Unlike many other national entrance exams, NTA-CUET has evolved into the most comprehensive exam in the country.

Following your understanding of the exam pattern and curriculum, the next step in CUET preparation is to devise an exam strategy that considers your strengths and weaknesses. To boost preparation and chances of passing the exam, the stronger regions must be mastered while the weaker ones must be strengthened. Students will have to compete against numerous aspirants.

Hence, precise planning is vital. Because the exam is still relatively new, many of you may be concerned about what subjects to study, how to organise your study time and other concerns. So, in this case, mock tests will prepare you for the big day. It will help students to understand the pattern of the examination.

The CUET is administered on a regular basis throughout the year. Candidates who will take the CUET must prepare carefully in order to ace the exam. It is even preferable if the individual obtains learned instruction while self-studying.

Mr Happy Face, A 17-Year-Old Chihuahua Mix, Is The "World's Ugliest Dog"

A 17-year-old Chihuahua mix from Arizona, the United States, has been named the "World's Ugliest Dog". The event, which is held during the Sonoma-Marin Fair in California, has been going on for nearly 50 years. The contest was held after a gap of two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The winner, Mr Happy Face, has tumours and neurological issues, requires a diaper, struggles to stand upright or walk and has a tilted head.

According to the description of the winner on the website of the event, the Chihuahua once lived in abusive and neglectful condition. Yet, the dog reached the age of 17. Mr Happy Face sports a natural Mohawk and makes a sound "like a Dodge Ram diesel truck" revving its engine when happy, according to the description online.

The winner's appearance completely blew the judges away. Out of the other contestants that Mr Happy Face defeated, one was a "hairless mutant" with no teeth, another that looked like "a hyena" and one with a "gorilla-like head".

The website of the event also has a quote from owner of Mr Happy Face, Jeneda Benelly. She said that the dog was adopted by the family in August, 2021 from a shelter in Arizona.
"When I arrived at the shelter, I asked to see a particular dog that, fortunately for me, had just been adopted. I asked if there were any other dogs that were similar to that one. There was in fact, another dog there who was much older and had health issues and I was warned could be inbred because he was so ugly. The shelter staff tried to prepare me for what I was about to see," she said.

"I saw a creature who was indeed old, needed a second chance and deserved to be loved," Ms Benelly further said.

She recalled that a veterinarian told her that Mr Happy Face might survive "only for a few weeks, maybe a month" because of the tumours and multiple health conditions.

It has been able to improve its bottom line both in the steel and wire rope business. Rajeev Jhawar Usha Martin thought that it would be a good opportunity to sell the steel business at these levels so that they can get a better valuation. "Deepest Shipwreck Ever Located": US Navy's WWII Ship Discovered Off Philippines

Manila, Philippines: A US navy destroyer sunk during World War II has been found nearly 7,000 metres (23,000 feet) below sea level off the Philippines, making it the world's deepest shipwreck ever located, an American exploration team said.

The USS Samuel B Roberts went down during a battle off the central island of Samar on October 25, 1944 as the US forces fought to liberate the Philippines, then a US colony from Japanese occupation.

A crewed submersible filmed, photographed and surveyed the battered hull of the "Sammy B" during a series of dives over eight days this month, Texas-based undersea technology company Caladan Oceanic said.

Images showed the ship's three-tube torpedo launcher and gun mount.

"Resting at 6,895 meters, it is now the deepest shipwreck ever located and surveyed," tweeted Caladan Oceanic founder Victor Vescovo, who piloted the submersible.
